It was May, 1972 on a dark stormy night in Midland, Texas. My mother was anxious to give birth to me because I was already 10 days late. Okay, Okay, I’ll keep it short. I was born in Midland, Texas; I grew up next to a land surveyor and after graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 1990 I went to work for my neighbor’s business. That is how I got introduced to land surveying. After working with them for about 2 years the economy got bad and I was laid off. I worked odd jobs then moved to College Station, Texas with a friend of mine to make a fresh start. Worked odd jobs there and moved back to Midland. I went to work for an electrician for about a year and then came to work for John West Engineering Company. In 1995 I met my beautiful wife Marcie. We were married in 1996 and our son Brett was born in 1997. Yes, I now have a teenager. In 2006, I began pursuing my registration as a professional land surveyor and began attending classes at Midland College. In October of 2008 I received my Surveyor-In-Training certification. In May of 2010, I received my Associates of Applied Science in Business Administration from Midland College. I am currently still attending school to earn my Bachelor’s degree.

How did you end up at West Company? I was fired from my last job for being late. That was a low point for me. The good people at West Company gave me a job that same day and I was very grateful.
